Ideagirl’s Blog Explained

I blog because I have lots of things going on in my head all day long. I get easily excited about new ideas and it makes me want to try them out right away. When the inevitable new idea sneaks in - -I have to go and find out everything about it that I can…blogging seemed like the right venue to capture some of that info - because, frankly, many of my ideas and research and interest have been lost or stomped on by the new stuff…and sometimes I want to get back to the older stuff that my brain was psyched about at the time.

Also important — my mother lives pretty far away from me and is very busy. In part, I keep the blog so that she and I feel more connected…and that’s been a good thing.

Since I’ve started — I’ve also become addicted to posting and posting frequently. A thought occurs…fingers type. It helps me be more grounded. It also distracts me sometimes from the things I need to be doing — but it’s a good trade off I think — I do the yucky stuff — my blogging is my reward. Everyone wins! <sound of cheering>

I’m addicted to other blogs. I love seeing what others are thinking…doing…writing about…complaining about..making…experimenting with…struggling with…laughing about. It makes me feel more interested in my surroundings in some weird way.

It’s an amazing creative outlet. I do MORE because I blog. I want to make things…to talk about them….to get and give feedback…to find others who are inspired too.

Blogging is great fun — and I think others pick up on it when you are excited about something…

And…final confession. I LOVE comments. Don’t you? I’ve met some AMAZING women so far — and I’m looking forward to more. Not that I have anything particularly interesting to say — so it’s even more incredible that someone would even give me 30 seconds of their day…I’m just in awe of that.

if you’ve just scrolled down because I’m too long-winded and don’t want to read the entire post:

Here’s the Cliff Note Version:

Blogging good. Like blogging. Make friends.

  4. Hi Ideagirl!

I have just discovered the joys of blogging for myself. Since then I have been blogging to beat the band every second I get. Now I am a bit more organized in that I want to really take my time with the writing and so I spend a lot of time putting my ideas down on paper and then messing around with it till it conveys just the message that is in my heart in just the right way. (Really long sentence I know but it works, you think?)

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce my self and let you know that I find your musings entertaining especially the ones about small business. I will go ahead and link you to my blog. You can visit me in the blogoshpere at http://www.thesecretaryspeaks.typepad.com

I started a small virtual assistant business about two years ago. It is true what you said. Working from home has a few advantages but you still have to have a strong constitution to be able to do all the work yourself. And I am in the business of providing administrative assistance to mostly other small business owners or home office workers. I work from my office so all the work I do is virtual using different technologies to stay connected and share files. My clients are all over the US. But, the biggest push for me is that I also have to be my own assistant right here! So I may do bookeeping for someone else while my own bookeeping goes to pot.

Add to that the fact that I still work outside my home for 20 hours a week. (Creditors and suppliers really want their money!!!) My day hardly ever ends before midnight. But all in all I love working for myself and having at least a little more satisfaction in each day.

Hang in there girl. It could get better. Thanks for blogging so I can have someone to talk to.
